I've been working for the PET group at Penn now for a little while. I got a chance to do an independent study with them where I did my first official research. Time of flight PET is effectively an exercise in measuring the speed of light with high percision and accuracy, so detector calibration is important!

Solid state (or condensed matter or whatever you call it) physics is a booming field. I wrote this brief review of semiconductor laser technology. It should only require a basic understanding of quantum mechanics and electricity and magnetism. I hope to expand it more in the future.
